neuroscientist/inventor/professor/engineer
I am reaching out because I have been in the neuroscience field for well over 4 decades now and would like to contribute to your podcast community.
My initial activity in the field was in the lab using animal models to study cortical correlates of perception. After 25 years (in the mid 2000s), we translated this knowledge into a non-invasive human testing platform that has evolved to its current form as the Brain Gauge. Metrics target biological function and mechanisms of information processing. A significant amount of research (120+ publications) has driven its development.
The Brain Gauge is used by individuals, clinicians and researchers world-wide to not only assess and track brain function (enabling measures of treatment efficacy) but for brain training as well. Individuals find that it is helpful to track their brain health and determine what is helping (or degrading) brain function (i.e., do supplements or nootropics actually work, and if so, what is the right amount?).
