Violet Kimble is a neuroscientist and PhD candidate at Yale University studying how hormones shape brain health and recovery from substance use disorders. Her research focuses on estradiol, calcium signaling, and the neural mechanisms that influence motivation, mood, and social connection during abstinence.
Her work aims to answer a simple but powerful question: why do some people successfully recover while others struggle, and how can biology help us design better support?
Beyond the lab, Violet teaches, mentors students entering health careers, and works at the intersection of neuroscience and digital health innovation, developing tools that translate brain science into practical support for everyday life. She’s passionate about making brain health research accessible, especially for women, and helping people understand that recovery is not just willpower, it’s neurobiology.
